On the back of our hugely popular Afternoon Tea Trains we are launching our first Fish & Chip Train on Saturday 27th September 2025, with trains departing Lionheart Station at 1pm and 4pm.
Enjoy Freshly Cooked Traditional Fish & Chips served on board our Steam Hauled Dining Train.
Our ‘Fish & Chips for Two’ ticket price is £80!
Both passengers can enjoy the following:
● 2x return steam hauled trips to Greenrigg Halt, through the beautiful Northumbrian countryside.
One main menu choice of:
● Haddock and Chips (fried in beef dripping)
● Fried Chicken Breast Quarter and Chips
● Battered/Fried Sausage and Chips
● Vegetarian Onion Pattie and Chips (fried in vegetable oil)
● Vegetarian Burger and Chips (fried in vegetable oil)
One side order of:
● Mushy Peas
● Curry Sauce
● Gravy
Accompaniments of Tomato Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Tartar Sauce and Salt & Vinegar will also be available.
Free Drinks:
● Unlimited tea or coffee for each passenger will be served throughout the journey.
Additional Drinks:
Alcoholic and soft drinks can be purchased at the time of booking for an additional charge, so why not add a soft drink, bottle of Prosecco or individual bottles of Cheviot Breweries refreshingly zesty ‘Harbour Wall’ pale ale to accompany your meal.
All alcoholic and soft drinks must be pre-ordered at the time of booking, as there will be no option to purchase on the day.
Make the day even more exclusive by hiring your own private compartment for up to 4 people! The total cost of a private compartment for up to 4 people is £160 and includes all of the same menu and drinks options as above.
The whole experience from boarding the train 30 minutes before departure time to returning to Lionheart after 2 return trips, will last approximately 2 hours.
