All aboard! Treat your little engineers and train enthusiasts to an exciting adventure with Footplate Explorers at the Aln Valley Railway. A new event for 2024!
– Get up close and personal with one of our steam locomotives – Help to clean and oil it!
- Visit our steam crew and step on board the footplate for a photo opportunity
- Take a steam train ride from Lionheart Station to Greenrigg Halt and back.
- Enjoy lunch in our cafe (children’s lunch included in ticket price, cafe will be open should adults wish to purchase lunch)
- Make crafts to remember the day
- Take a guided tour of the railway with some behind the scenes access
The day will start at 09:30 on Sunday 14th April. Children must wear sturdy shoes, full length cotton trousers and long sleeved cotton tops. Overalls are preferred but not essential. Gloves can be provided, but if you have gloves, its best to bring them along!
Tickets are £25 per child, which includes all the activities, lunch, a train ride and access to the event for one adult. Additional adults can join in the fun for just £8 extra.
Footplate Explorers is sure to bring out the inner train fan in every child. Places are limited, so ensure you book early. This would make a perfect and unique Easter or Birthday gift and is sure to bring a smile to their face on the day!
